Fall for Brocade

As Heidi Klum says " In fashion one day you are in and one day you are out".
What is back again with all it's strengh for this fall is one of my favorite fabrics;  brocade!
This luxurious fabric was extremely popular in the 15th century. A must have of the upper class that loved flaunting their status by wearing this beautiful ornate clothing. They overlaid fur, lace and beautiful embroideries some of which were made of gold.
This fall, we are blessed to be able to experience all of that.
Christophe Decarnin incorporates the brocade prints, sequins, lamé, lurex, animal prints and fur in his amazing collection for Balmain. Some said he’s gone baroque'n’roll!!
Sarah Burton, who used to be Alexander McQueen’s first hand, said he looked for inspiration from the Dark Ages to create his collection.

This versatile fabric can also be seen on shoes and handbags. Luis Vitton nailed this trend with some amazing pieces.

I'm diggin' this trend and I hope it lasts a little longer...
