Bold Colors and Fringe at Gucci

It's easy to fall in love with Gucci's 2011 ready to wear collection. Frida Gianini brought glamour back and has wowed us with amazing pieces. At the beginning of the show, strong colors such as teal, orange, blue and purple were combined creating bold and fun looks. Asymmetrical and plunging necklines were tied up with a chunky gold belt with tassels.

A safari theme was evident and tastefully presented after the color blocking looks left the runway. The colors were beige, gold and brown tones. The pants had a dropped crotch and were loose fitting around the hips and slimmer on the lower leg. At this time, the tassels were not only on the belts, but also included lace up details. Very chic!

The evening looks finished the show and did not disappoint. The show featured black outfits with heavy use of fringe detailing to the skirts, shirts and accessories. Leather was also used to add a glamorous edge to the black looks head-to-toe.

The bold colors were back  at the end of the show in fringed little dresses. Some had feathers and were accented with gold. They looked very expensive with beautiful intricate design details.

I'll finish it up with a few quotes of Gucci's head designer and creative director Frida Giannini.

"I don’t think that being innovative means making only strange or weird things that you would never see in the street.

"I am not an
artist.
I am not doing a
 performance;

 I'm doing things
that need to be
sold.

 And I know my
job"

Bumping it Up!

Whether or not you are a fan of Snooki, you have to admit the reality T.V. star is making its imprint on America’s culture.
Since she appeared in “The Jersey Shore” with that very big hair, I was amused and intrigued with such great engineering. How did she do it? I tried many times to tease my hair to such heights but could never succeed. I always ended up with an uneven bird’s nest that would last up to 10 minutes!
Well now, thanks to her and her signature hairstyle I came across this great invention. …. BUMP IT’S!!! I have to say…. these are my new guilty pleasures! I always wished I were a little more creative when it comes to my hair, but my lack of technique never let me go further. It comes in 3 sizes: a very small one, a medium (that is the highest I think I can go) and a very big one (that I haven’t used yet).
Bump It’s make it really easy to achieve something extraordinary and unprecedented. So thank you Snooki! I owe you one!!

Here are some hairstyles you can do with Bump It’s

Fashion Gossip: Blake Lively the New Trendsetter

Since the beginning of the hit show Gossip Girl in 2007, the fashion world has been blessed with great fashion. Some people don’t care for the show, but they don’t miss an episode because they know the wardrobe will be well worth watching.

Blake Lively, the main star of the show, is a fashion billboard on the skin of Serena Van Der Woodsen. Off the set, the actress has her a unique sense of style that goes from Converse to Chanel in cool, sophisticated way.

The paparazzi darling is also loved by high fashion designers. She’s the “it” girl now and they all want to see her in their designs. Further confirmation of this fact came when she was one of 300 celebs personally invited to Chanel's private dinner hosted by Karl Lagerfeld. She’s constantly rubbing elbows with Anna Wintour in the front row of the hottest fashion shows.

She’s so beautiful and natural that she can pull off every trend and make it look effortless.   Here are some of her fashionable looks. I hope you like them as much as I do.

Style me Gaga

Lady Gaga is not just the singer everyone is listening to, but she is a pop star sensation listed as one of the most influential people in this year’s Time Magazine.
She has shaken the world with her outrageous ways and a wardrobe that speaks for itself.
Her fashion choices go from mildly shocking to OMG!  She recently got her own VH1 special that features her most outrageous outfits. While most won't dare to be as adventurous as Gaga, I think she has inspired many women to take more fashion risks and be more self expressive.

Not too long ago she wore a “Kermit the Frog outfit” as a fun way to tell the world skin is not in.
Last Sunday, she out did herself and wore a meat dress while receiving her VMA award. Peta said “ it was disgusting”. The songstress explained herself  “... if we don't stand up for what we believe in, if we don't fight for our rights, pretty soon we're going to have as much rights as the meat on our bones."  (Read more about the meat dress: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/gossip/2010/09/lady-gaga-meat-dress-vma-poll.html ).
So what’s next for the superstar? No one knows, but her poker face keeps everyone guessing… And I’m so curious to find out!

Fall for Brocade

As Heidi Klum says " In fashion one day you are in and one day you are out".
What is back again with all it's strengh for this fall is one of my favorite fabrics;  brocade!
This luxurious fabric was extremely popular in the 15th century. A must have of the upper class that loved flaunting their status by wearing this beautiful ornate clothing. They overlaid fur, lace and beautiful embroideries some of which were made of gold.
This fall, we are blessed to be able to experience all of that.
Christophe Decarnin incorporates the brocade prints, sequins, lamé, lurex, animal prints and fur in his amazing collection for Balmain. Some said he’s gone baroque'n’roll!!
Sarah Burton, who used to be Alexander McQueen’s first hand, said he looked for inspiration from the Dark Ages to create his collection.

This versatile fabric can also be seen on shoes and handbags. Luis Vitton nailed this trend with some amazing pieces.

I'm diggin' this trend and I hope it lasts a little longer...
